ILLUSTRATIONS & COMMISSIONS
In this section, you will see my published illustration work, as well as customized Art pieces made specifically for clients. When I attended the Alberta University of the Arts, I made a choice to go into graphic design and illustration. I was curious about the process and thought it would help me familiarize myself with making art on the computer screen. After completing the program, I discovered that I did not enjoy this method of creating. To this day, I prefer to create with my hands. I like the tangible nature of the process. However, I learned many things while working in the graphic design field. One that I found quite useful, when approaching the blank paper, is the thumbnail process – sketching out small roughs to generate and grow ideas. Another valuable tool I acquired was the ability to visually convey a client’s idea, regardless of the subject matter. Through the years, doing commission and illustration work has allowed me to discover several more ways to create which I wouldn’t have done otherwise. As an Artist, when you’re equipped with numerous methods of producing, you will find out that the act of creating is never blocked; only a means of infinite adventure.
